'Broken Silence' is a 25 page comic from a collaborative university project working with Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies. The story was inspired by a science fiction article written by Patrick S. Tomlinson exposing space companies abusing labour workers on asteroids near Mars.
Created June 2024.
Set in a tech enhanced near-future, a journalist learns of the extremely poor conditions of workers on Mars. Riddled with survivors’ guilt due to her comparatively privileged and carefree life,
she tries to find out how she can help.
The narrative explores themes of survivors’ guilt and the worries of wanting to
help those in need whilst feeling insignificant and helpless.
